Student Finance
Student Finance provides financial support to cover the full tuition fee for your chosen university, as well as maintenance loans or grants to help with living costs during your studies.
Tuition Fees
•£5,500 – £9,250 per academic year
•Paid directly to your university
Maintenance Loans and Grants
Up to £13,000 – £19,000 per year, paid directly to you
The total amount may include additional grants available to eligible full-time students:
•Childcare Grant for students with children who require childcare.
•Parents’ Learning Allowance for students with dependent children.
•Adult Dependants’ Grant for students with adult dependants.
Repayment of Loans
Most funding from Student Finance is provided as a loan, but it differs. significantly from a traditional bank loan.
•You only begin repayments after finishing your course (typically once you graduate).
•You repay 9% of any income above £27,295 per year.
•If you earn below £27,295, no repayments are required.
•Any outstanding balance is written off after 30 years.
•The loan does not appear on your credit file.
•It does not affect your credit rating.
