Student Finance
Student Finance
If you’re eligible, Student Finance England can help fund your university education by covering your tuition fees and providing financial support towards your living costs while you study.
Tuition Fee Loan
A Tuition Fee Loan is available to eligible students and is paid directly to your university to cover the cost of your course.
Maintenance Support
You may also qualify for financial support to help with everyday living expenses such as accommodation, travel and study-related costs. The amount you receive will depend on your individual circumstances and eligibility.
Additional Financial Support
Some students may be entitled to extra funding, including:
• Childcare Grant for eligible students who pay for childcare.
• Parents’ Learning Allowance for students with dependent children.
• Adult Dependants’ Grant for students who financially support an adult dependant.
• Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) for eligible students with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
Repaying Your Student Loan
Student Finance loans are designed to be affordable and work differently from standard bank loans.
• You only make repayments once your income reaches the applicable repayment threshold for your loan plan.
• Repayments are automatically deducted through the UK tax system when required.
• If your earnings fall below the repayment threshold, you won’t make repayments.
• Student loans do not affect your credit score or appear on your credit file.
• Any remaining balance may be written off in accordance with the terms of your loan.
