Student Finance

Eligible students may be able to apply for financial support through Student Finance England. The support available depends on your personal circumstances, residency status, previous study and chosen course.

Tuition Fee Loan

Eligible students may receive a Tuition Fee Loan towards their course fees. This is paid directly to the university or college. Loan limits apply, so please check whether the available loan covers your full tuition fees.

Maintenance Loan

Eligible students may also receive a Maintenance Loan towards living costs, including accommodation, travel and study expenses. The amount available depends on factors such as household income, where you live and study, and your eligibility.

Tuition Fee Loans and Maintenance Loans are repayable, and interest applies under the relevant loan terms.

Additional Support

Depending on your circumstances and the applicable eligibility criteria, additional support may include:

* Childcare Grant.
* Parents’ Learning Allowance.
* Adult Dependants’ Grant.
* Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).

Some support is available only to eligible full-time students. Each scheme has separate conditions, and funding is not guaranteed.

Repaying Your Student Loan

When repayments begin and how much you repay depend on your repayment plan and income.

Repayments are normally collected through payroll for UK employees or through Self Assessment where applicable. Different arrangements apply if you live overseas.

Any cancellation or write-off of your loan is subject to the rules and conditions of your repayment plan. Leaving your course does not automatically cancel your repayment obligations.
